About me

Welcome to the website of Dr. Bereket Haileab, Professor of Geology. With 35 years of teaching and 40 years of research in the Turkana Basin, he specializes in tephrostratigraphy and has analyzed over 350 tuffs—vital for regional correlation and paleoenvironmental reconstruction. Use the menu to access tuff geochemistry, ArcGIS maps, field notes, and photos.

For over 25 years, he has also led water quality monitoring at 145 sites in Rice County, closely involving students in the research. This site features water chemistry data, student projects, publications, and posters. Explore course materials and student work through the menu.
