Limestone within the Decorah Shale

Description

The Decorah Shale directly overlies the Platteville Limestone and consists of fine-grained, greenish-gray shale interbedded with occasional carbonate lenses. The outcrop is rich in articulate brachiopods and bryozoans, disarticulated crinoid, gastropods, bivalves, cephalopods, rugose corals, and trilobites. The photo of this sample shows rugose coral.
