Title

BH250-63

Subject

Granodiorite

Description

Major Minerals: orthoclase, quartz, biotite
Minor Minerals: chlorite, zircon, titanite, hornblende, albite, epidote

BH250-63 is a granitic sample collected from Confusion Point, a geologically significant outcrop in northern Minnesota, situated within the Giants Range Batholith.
At Confusion Point, the exposure provides striking evidence of multiple phases of magmatic intrusion. Road cuts reveal a network of cross-cutting relationships between lighter-colored granitic bodies and darker amphibolite dikes or enclaves, highlighting a long history of successive intrusion, deformation, and recrystallization. These features make Confusion Point a classic location for studying Archean crustal evolution and the structural complexity of ancient continental lithosphere.
