BH250-65 – Siderite Vein
This sample is a siderite-rich vein collected from one of the mines visited in northern Minnesota. The siderite/carbonate show high birefringence interference colors. The vein contains abundant fine-grained quartz along with various oxide and carbonate minerals. The carbonates exhibit localized oolitic textures, suggesting precipitation from mineral-rich fluids under specific physicochemical conditions. Only one thin section is available for this rock.
